GulfRun 5 and a ride to remember
Firstly, I would like to congratulate the boys at GulfRun for hosting such a fun and exciting event at the Bahrain International Circuit in January. A lot of great cars and a lot of action on all fronts, whether it was on the track, drifting or drag racing. GulfRun 5 was a success for the creators, sponsors and most of all, the drivers and visitors.
I thought it would be cool to give some insight to my readers on what it’s like to ride around the Bahrain circuit with a GulfRun driver. I was lucky to hop on board a Westfield track car with Ahmed Al Mudhaf, one of the founders of the event.
Group B Rally – Fatal Passion
Between 1982 and 1986, a rally competition classified as Group B took the world by storm. It was a mix of insane horsepower figures, relaxed rules and sheer driver madness which captivated every motorsport fan’s heart. Unfortunately, when you mix all of what I just mentioned together, you end up with a formula which results in disaster. I prefer to call it “fatal passion”. I know the video clip is long (11 running minutes), but this video has fantastic highlights of a short-lived sport where men truly pushed their cars and lives to the limit during every second when competing.

Playing video games has its benefits
Did your parents ever tell you to stop playing video games? To go study instead? For most of us, it was probably the right advice. For some… well… it wasn’t.
The GT Academy 2010 is a virtual racing competition started by the Sony racing simulation game, Gran Turismo, and Nissan available to 15 European countries, as well as Australia and New Zealand. How does it work? Each user downloads a “time trial demo” onto their Playstation 3 and tries to post his/her best lap times. The fastest 20 virtual drivers will then go to a “boot camp” racing school at Silverstone. The top driver who comes out on top will be awarded with a full season race drive in a Nissan 370Z race car in the European GT4 Cup!
How successful has it been so far? 3 weeks after the demo was made available on the 17th of December in 2009, over 1 million users have downloaded it. The competition ends at midnight, GMT, on the 24th of January.

Don't make them angry!
So we all know how male racecar drivers get angry when another bumps the other off the track, or when one dangerously cuts off the other. But what about women racecar drivers? How would they react if one angered the other? Hmm… I bet you’re curious.

When F1 was an epic battle
This is probably one of the most celebrated moments in F1 racing history. In 1979, during the French Grand Prix, Renault driver René Arnoux and Ferrari driver Gilles Villeneuve battled wheel-to-wheel (touching numerous times actually) giving racing fans something to cherish in their hearts (and Youtube) forever! Believe it or not, what you are about to witness is a fight for 2nd place. 2nd place!!!! That was the time when F1 racing was an epic battle.
